Main Objective:
The HAZMAT incident commander course is for those who are either currently serving or could possibly serve as an initial incident commander during an emergency response situation. Through this course, you'll get to take a closer look at the different functions of an incident command system and identify the roles and responsibilities that make a successful team. Though the time required to complete this course will vary depending on your prior knowledge, you will have a six-month window to complete it.
If you are an incident commander, you must understand how to respond to incidents involving hazardous chemicals or materials in a safe and efficient manner.
Knowledge and Skills Gained:
Understand and be able to use the employer's incident command system. Understand how to carry out the employer's emergency response plan. Understand and be aware of the hazards and risks associated with employees who wear chemical protective clothing. Understand how to carry out the local emergency response plan. Understand the state's emergency response plan as well as the Federal Regional Response Team. Understand the significance of decontamination procedures.Learner Outcomes:
Understanding of basic hazard and risk assessment techniques. Understand how to select and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided to the operational level of first responders. Basic knowledge of hazardous materials terminology. Know how to perform basic control, containment, and/or confinement operations, as well as rescue injured or contaminated people, within the capabilities of their unit's resources and PPE. Understand how to carry out basic decontamination procedures for equipment, victims, and rescue personnel. A working knowledge of the relevant standard operating procedures and termination procedures.Who Should Enrol in Course?
